About The Artist:
Leah Haney works and lives in Austin, TX and graduated with a BFA from the University of Texas in 2010 where she was the first undergraduate to receive the Roy Crane Award for Creative Excellence. After college she continued to work in Austin and has shown all over the city including the Austin Museum of Art, Women and Their Work, and Tiny Park. In 2012 she received the AVAA Artist of the Year Award for her architectural paintings. Leah currently works out of her studio at Mass Gallery- a contemporary non-profit art space in East Austin, but is not currently represented by a gallery.
Leah’s work has been influenced by Austin’s rapid growth and ever changing skyline. The perpetual surge of condominiums and office buildings have transformed the cityscape. Her paintings examine the division of space through man made structures both interior and exterior. They are experiments in expanding and warping points of view and distorting dimensions to accentuate architecture’s ability to profoundly affect our point of view.
